Function purposeThis concerns a junior function, in which the Greenhouse Cultivation Assistant will be trained to the level where he/ she can perform as a cultivation professional, part of the Greenhouse Cultivation team. Training and guidance will be provided, but it is expected of him/ her to have a strong willingness to learn and develop. In the Kunming Anthura Greenhouse, under supervision of the Cultivation manager, the role of the Cultivation Assistant is to help contribute to growing the planned number of plants against the determined quality standards. The Cultivation Assistant helps the Cultivation manager create the optimal climate, irrigation, fertigation, and pest control for growing Anthurium and Phalaenopsis plants in all stages of their production. This includes but is not limited to execution of daily cultivation tasks, following crop growth and production, alerting on issues, setting up and following trials, and supervising and checking the cultivation team. The plants need to grow in such a way that they are ready for delivery at the right moment, while meeting the set quality standards of the plant. Position in the organizationReports to the Cultivation manager.Area of Responsibilities and focus(Help to) carry out daily cultivation tasks / co-responsible for: ？ Following crop growth and production？ Reporting on issues, and helping to determine and implement solutions to solve these？ Quality of the crop (size, root quality, internal quality).？ Executing and monitoring/ reporting on trials. ？ Monitoring of cultivation climate and reporting on deviations. Help install corrections when needed.？ Scouting for pests and disease and installing appropriate measures to tackle these.？ The supervision of cultivation employees.Required Qualifications, education and personality traits？ Good understanding of English and Chinese language？ College or Bachelor’s degree in relevant field？ Analytic mind and good problem-solving skills.？ Good at teamwork.？ Great flexibility.？ Good understanding of MS Office. ？ Curiosity and the courage to ask in case of not understanding or having different opinions？ Willingness and ability to learn quickly？ Preferred Skills: Knowledge of plant growing principles in greenhouse environment.Additional NotesWork or stay in rooms with relatively high humidity (approx. 80%) and relatively high temperatures (up to approx. 26-28 °C) or low temperatures outside to approx. 0 °c.
